At the tender of age of 10, Brady Novotny walked away from his first guitar lesson being told by the instructor that he should just give up now. However, in true rock and roll fashion, Brady pushed forward.
Finding inspiration and motivation in the one known in rock and roll history books as Randy Rhoads, Brady found a passion for classical, melodic guitar playing. He proceeded to absorb all the knowledge and skills he possibly could from the disciplines of classical guitar, flamenco, soaring guitar leads of the 1980s, jazz fusion and the power of melody.
With experience ranging from working as a session guitarist, a worship leader, with nationwide tours and his involvement in the Pittsburgh rock scene, it’s safe to say Brady Novotny lives and breathes music. His weapon of choice, the guitar. His ammunition, virtuosic skills.
Mostly an instrumental album featuring emotive sound beds that lay the foundations for passionate, soaring lead guitar melodies, Passions Collide is an album that anyone can enjoy. However, if you prefer (mostly) instrumental albums with amazing guitar playing (aka Vai, Malmsteen, Satriani) then Passions Collide is going to be one of your new favorite albums.
The reason I say (mostly) instrumental is that there are a couple of tracks which feature vocal performances. These voices serve as additional instruments adding a refreshing layer of texture and passion to the emotionally charged compositions.
Whether he’s playing a classical acoustic with nylon strings or shredding an electric through extremely satisfying tones, Brady Novotny will grab your attention, hold it and then leave you wanting to repeat the process.
Passions Collide is best enjoyed from beginning to end. You can listen or save it on Spotify.
