After two solo albums, 1,000 shows, and collaborations with names such as Us3, One Self, the Russian Percussion, and True Ingredients; BluRum13 decided to take some time off to creatively recharge.
In the meantime, fans started demanding a new album.
During his time off, BluRum13 experimented with drum and bass and electronica while consuming the writings of Zecharia Sitchin and the teachings of Lloyd Pye. He learned, “Art that truly connects with the outside world comes from within, free from any expectations or music biz demands”.
New York born, Maryland raised James Sobers has answered his fans’ demand with his new album, Inverted.
This record is the result of BluRum13 breaking free from genre and philosophical boundaries in order to bring purity into his creations.
“Making this album has been a real highlight for me because I made the music I heard in my head despite the pressure and anticipation. I was consumed with this album—there were a lot of sleepless nights—but it feels amazing right now,” he pauses. “It feels like a blockage was removed from my artery,” he says laughing.
BluRum13 delivers his rhymes in acrobatic fashion covering topics from physics to metaphysics and astronomy to existentialism inside the context of encouraging introspection and social commentary.
In other words, this is Hip Hop music as it should be.
Having shared the stage with acts such as KRS-1, Public Enemy, De La Soul, Jeru the Damaja, Diggable Planets, the Fugees and Phish; it is obvious that Mr. Sobers is a student of the true school Hip Hop class.
All Hip Hop heads need to add Inverted to their collections.
