When I first started listening to Greesnboro, North Carolina based Bittersweet Machines new album No Bad Horizon, my immediate thought was how great this band sounds. Great chemistry, great sound, great arrangements equaling an overall great alternative rock album.
I quickly realized Bittersweet Machines is actually a one-man-band. The man’s name is Matt Mocharnuk and he is solely responsible for this great alternative rock album I speak of. As Bittersweet Machines see No Bad Horizon in view, I hear no bad music on this engaging, enticing, 11-track wall of sound.
Melodically rich, texturally nuanced, fantastically composed and pristinely produced, No Bad Horizon takes us on a sonic voyage through vibrant soundscapes that resonate deeply in our emotional core. No matter which song you are listening to, your ears will be treated to enthralling, passion-filled musical arrangements guaranteed to keep you listening from the moment you click play until the final track fades into silence.
Even with the knowledge that Bittersweet Machines is only one man, I still find myself thinking how great “this band” sounds. Matt’s musicianship is top notch and the proficiency with which he delivers strong song after strong song leaves me wondering if he’s penetrated indie and/or alt-rock radio yet… Out of 11 tracks, any one of them could stand as a radio ready single and the boost needed to raise awareness of this hidden gem of a musical talent to the next level.
