Beverly Girl hit the Finnish music scene approximately 2 years ago.
With a DIY approach, they recorded a 3-song demo which resulted in notable radio play around Finland. At the same time, the band began receiving coverage from English and French music blogs which then spread into the rest of Europe, the US, Australia, and Japan.
Finnish 47 will be releasing their debut album, Feathers and Dust, sometime in April. The release will be accompanied by a Finland tour.
Labeled as an electronic funk/rock band, I could not help but feel like I was listening to a European version of Madonna’s music. With a pop sound reminiscent of the ’80s, Beverly Girl has arrived just in time to make an entire generation of music fans nostalgic.
I suspect this has fueled the viral spread of their music across the blogosphere. The music is catchy, it’s funky, and it rocks in an over-the-top, Euro-pop sort of way.
