Begin at Zero (BaZ) have had my support since they dropped their first album, Breathing Ash. Showing how big their balls are, the band sent that debut record to I Probably Hate Your Band. And not only did they submit it, they then embraced and fully publicized the scathing review that tore the album (and their art) to pieces.
*Sidenote: Check out my first interview with BaZ where we discuss that harsh review.
How did BaZ respond to the hate? They kept promoting their debut album. Not only that, they returned with a sophomore follow-up. Then I interviewed them again.
The band has returned with their latest hard rockin’ record, Death Duet which has been released in memory of Gus J. Kodros III.
Death Duet is packed with 10 tracks of raw, energetic, in-your-face rock that walks the line somewhere between hard rock, hardcore and metal…with an unapologetic punk attitude.
Whether it’s the catchy riffs in The Basement Tapes, the unleashing of emotions on Motherfuckin’ Marty, the storytelling lyrical atmosphere of Life of Chris, or the blood pumpin’, head bangin’ ferocity of Kaiser Appears, Begin at Zero have mastered the art of just letting it all out while maintaining strong song structures and a high quality of musicianship which keeps you engaged from beginning to end.
My advice is to turn the volume to the max and just RAWK!
