East of Pittsburgh, Ashley Puckett realized her burning passion for music at a young age. Open mics, voice competitions, shows in bars and performances at community events all found the talented singer in attendance and on stage. By 16 she had picked up a guitar, started writing songs, and was on the road.
After being introduced to producer Bryan Cole and Tonic Studios’ lead engineer Doug Kasper, Ashley’s debut album eventually manifested itself. The title of that debut is Never Say Never. It will be available later in 2019.
Medicine, the topic of this article, is the lead single and is now available.
If Medicine sets the tone for the rest of the album, listeners of country music are in for a real treat. On top of the top quality musicianship and pristine production, Ashley’s voice grabs you and guides you along the emotive, melodically rich, infectious sound bed. That sonic foundation comes courtesy of Mike Brignardello on bass, John Willis on banjo, Mike Johnson on steel guitar while Heidi Engel and Tammy Petty provided background vocals. Newcomer Adam Ernst also contributed his talents to the project.
About working with this high class team, Ashley says,
I’ve never given up on where I wanted to be (in the music industry), however, when life pulls you in so many different directions, it sometimes takes you off-guard, and it becomes very easy to lose sight. I believe everything happens for a reason, and although I feel I’m always at the wrong place at the wrong time, somehow that led me to the right place at the right time, to say ‘It’s now or never’ after meeting Bryan and Doug. The energy the three of us have, working together, and their dedication is so exciting…I know this is just the beginning of something spectacular.”
