Prepare for the amazing voice of Adena Atkins as she takes a journey through the seasons on her new EP, The Slowest Curve.
Adena has a simple songwriting formula: 1) write lyrics that double as poetry, 2) provide a soundscape of highly imaginative music, and 3) channel it through a soprano vocal that moves you.
There are 4 songs on this EP and each one represents a different season. Not only the seasons of Earth, but the seasons of relationships and human existence. The depth of thought that went into this collection of songs amazes me as much (if not more) than the songs themselves.
I find this a very impressive concept but until you hear Adena’s poetry behind a Pink Floyd-esque, electro-pop soundscape; you just haven’t heard anything.
The production is progressive, yet colorful, and very thorough. Think Nine Inch Nails collaborating with Radiohead in a space station far, far away from here…
The Slowest Curve was produced by Jay Pinto and is a bold representation of the collaboration between the two forces. They also have another EP released under the moniker pandagreen.
Adena also authors the blog, An Art Full Life, where she shares the ins and outs of sustaining creativity. She is also working on a new EP.
