Let’s dive a little deeper into You, the artist and your music. What attracted you to this genre(s) or style(s)?
Sigur Ros
What led you into this journey with music? And further, what drives you to push it out to the public?
Since we were kids we have always played together in a lot of different bands and genres. Starting with Nirvana covers. Then we heard Daft Punk’s Discovery and that was a whole new world opening.
Survival instinct and our manager Hugo drives us to push our music out. Otherwise we would just have all our songs collecting dust on our hard drives.
Who or what influences your creativity? Have your tastes in music changed over time?
Michael Jackson. But mainly the current mood and how the body feels is the biggest influence of creativity. If it is happy the need to be creative comes automatically.
Our taste in music hasn’t changed much. We still listen to the music we listened to 15 years ago but of course new music also. The only thing that matters is that it has a vibe that we like.
Were you trying to accomplish anything specific on this new project? Creatively or otherwise?
We just make bits of music, beats and ideas without plans what we want to accomplish. And when something has the vibe then it’s easy to know where it should go from there. This song we wrote with Jan Kask, who we have worked with on earlier projects. He helped us finding the way and it’s also him singing.
What was the last song you listened to?
Kendrick Lamar – King Kunta
Janice – Don’t Need To
Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CDs? MP3s?
Miss the way we listened to music when we were younger. When one could sit with the album cover and listen to whole albums. Now we only listen to good songs haha, but still prefer MP3s or spotify.
How about this one…. Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Bandcamp? Or something else? Why?
Spotify, because (almost) all you want to hear is there, except the latest beyonce. And it’s cheap.
Other than the digital era overwhelming us with access to an abundance of music, what is the biggest challenge you face when trying to connect with or find new fans?
We are not so good at talking about, neither ourselves, nor our music. We can discuss for a week if we should do a twitter post about some new song we made, which is a bad quality to have these days. We prefer someone else spreading the word.
Where is the best place to connect with you online? Discover more music?
Mail, Facebook and Spotify.
Anything else you’d like to add before signing off?
Cheers from Umeå Sweden.
